Sunrise at Pico do Arieiro

Begin your day with a breathtaking sunrise at Pico do Arieiro, the third-highest peak in Madeira. At 1,818 meters above sea level, this spot offers one of the most spectacular sunrise views on the island – a true sea of clouds, with jagged peaks rising like islands in the sky. We give you 1 full hour at the summit, so you have time to relax, enjoy the scenery, and even take a short hike along the iconic “Stairway to Heaven” trail – a dramatic and photogenic path that seems to float above the clouds.

While we always aim to catch the perfect sunrise, weather conditions at the peak can be unpredictable. If visibility is poor, we’ll adjust the plan and take you to another scenic location to make sure you still get the most out of your morning.

Next, we stop at Cabo Girão Skywalk, one of the highest sea cliffs in Europe. Stand on the glass platform 580 meters above the ocean and take in stunning views of the Atlantic, Funchal’s coastline, and the island’s terraced farmland below.
